The Health department has intensified its drive to prevent the spread of dengue in urban and rural areas of the district. Besides, people are also being made aware by telling them the methods of prevention. In this sequence, a health camp was organised by the Health department at Sahitya Naka, Gola Ghat in Ramnagar area on Thursday. About 117 people were given counselling in the camp out of which 77 people were tested for dengue (NS-1) and malaria in which no one was found positive. During this period, preventive measures and awareness work were carried out along with distribution of medicines as per requirement.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Sandeep Chaudhary said that the Health department has also made concrete arrangements to prevent the spread of dengue. “It is important for the public to take special precautions to avoid serious diseases and communicable diseases like dengue and malaria. For this, cleaning, anti-larva spraying and fogging work are being done in the city and rural areas,” he said, advising the people that in case of cold, cough, fever, vomiting etc, they should get tested at government hospitals or health centres and take medicine only on doctor’s advice. He said that all facilities are available at government health centres. He also appealed to the people to cooperate in preventing the spread of this disease by not allowing water to accumulate in any street or locality. Be sure to take care of cleanliness of all water sources every Sunday.
Dr SS Kanojia, Nodal Officer and ACMO of Communicable Disease Control, said dengue mosquitoes breed with the monsoon. People are constantly being made aware to prevent the spread of dengue. Its symptoms are high fever, headache and joint pain for the first three to four hours. Redness of eyes and fever lasts for two to four days and then gradually the temperature becomes normal. Along with fever, there is a lack of blood in the body. Body temperature increases and blood pressure also becomes much lower than normal,” he said, advising the people that if anyone’s body is affected due to any of these symptoms, then they should immediately go to a government health centre or hospital and get tested and treated. Dr Kanojia said that so far this year 139 confirmed dengue (ELISA) patients have been identified in the district. Out of these 125 patients have recovered. The remaining are on treatment. No one is in serious condition. On the occasion, Dr CS Singh, Filaria Unit In-charge Dr Amit Kumar Singh, Filaria inspector Ajay Kumar Shukla, Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal, Sanjay Kumar Singh and domestic breeding checkers (DBCs) were present.
