Close on the heels of the arrest of senior Bengal minister Jyoti Priya Mallick for his alleged role in the ration scam, State BJP president, Sukanta Majumdar on Monday said he had written a letter to Governor CV Ananda Bose, drawing his attention to the scams that have taken place in the State Health Department.
“I have written a letter to the Governor drawing his attention to the scams that have taken place in the Health Department … making a triumvirate of scams in three most important departments of the State —- Food, Education and Health. It would be good for the State if an investigation is done in the Health department scam too,” Majumdar said.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is the minister in charge of the Health Department.
Dropping hints of a possible political turbulence in the State ahead of the next year’s general elections Majumdar said that “it seems that a good number of ministers and senior officials are involved in the scams in all these departments and if a thorough investigation is done then the entire Cabinet will have to be run from jail which is not possible … so if the situation comes to that pass giving rise to a constitutional crisis then the central government cannot sit idle and it will have to intervene.”
