Taking a swipe at the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance during the 2017 UP assembly elections, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the BSP’s elephant was “tumbling here and there” and SP’s “bicycle would get a flat tyre” under the weight of the 'elephant'.
Addressing a series of rallies in Ambedkar Nagar, the chief minister said, "Ye haathi to waise bhi idhar-udhar fisal raha hai. Those who fought with the ‘elephant’ last time are now fighting with another party in these elections. It is quite obvious that when an ‘elephant’ couldn’t handle the weight of ‘their’ misdeeds, then the ‘bicycle’ will definitely get punctured."
Training guns at the previous regime for consuming ration meant for the poor, Yogi said, "Those who ate the ration meant for the poor, we have bulldozers for them. The power of the bulldozer is such that it is used for laying the Purvanchal Expressway as well as razing the ill-gotten properties of the corrupt leaders."
Invoking Dr Ram Manohar Lohia in Ambedkar Nagar, the chief minister said that he was a great socialist thinker. "In 1960, Dr Lohia started Ramayana Mela in various districts. Now, his present day followers shoot at Ram bhakts. Dr Lohia used to say that a true socialist must stay away from property and progeny. But the slogan of these so-called socialists (kathit samajwadi) is ‘Sabka saath, Saifai pariwar ka vikas’ (support of all and development of only the family belonging to Saifai), he said, adding that on the contrary, the Bharatiya Janata Party government believed in Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas."
In a stinging attack on the Akhilesh-led Samajwadi Party, Yogi said that those who used to roam around with pistols in their pockets during the previous regime were now carrying Bajrangbali’s mace to show that they had changed.
"The same people who had ordered firing at Ram bhakts are now roaming around with Bajrangbali’s mace. When the BJP returns to power, in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls these dynasts will be seen offering 'kar seva' with Ram bhakts in Ayodhya. This is a symbol of the BJP's ideological victory," he said.
The chief minister also invoked the legacy of Maharaja Suheldev, who had defeated and killed foreign invader Ghazi Saiyyad Salar Masood in the battle of Bahraich.
"People doing politics in the name of Maharaja Suheldev are working against his ideology today. I believe, the followers of Suheldev cannot stand with Ghori and Ghaznavi, they will not stand with caste, creed and religion. Instead they will stand with nationalism."
An enthused Yogi said, "After four phases of polling, I can say with confidence that there is a wave in favour of the BJP and the party will get an absolute majority. Once again, the BJP will cross the mark of 300 seats in the polls."
The chief minister appealed to the people to vote for the BJP as it alone could provide ‘dangamukt’ (riot-free), ‘bhaymukt’ (fear-free) and ‘arajaktamukt’( anarchy free) regime.
Speaking on Covid vaccination, the chief minister said that his government was providing free vaccines. "Had there been an SP-BSP government, this vaccine would have been black marketed," he said.
Yogi maintained that if the BJP government returned to power, free LPG would be given to every poor during Diwali and Holi.
"A scooty will be provided to meritorious daughters. The amount given under Kanya Sumangala Yojana will be increased to Rs 25,000 while under Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, Rs 1 lakh will be transferred to the beneficiary. For the youths, two crore tablets and smartphones will be provided. Also, the farmer's tube well power bill will be reduced to zero," he promised.
