Gauge Change: Lalitgram-Raghopur gauge conversion - Completing the gauge conversion work of 20 km long Lalitgram-Raghopur railway section, inspection of this section was done by CCRS on 25.11.2021 and the permission of CCRS has also been received on the next day on 26.11.2021. It may be noted that under the 110.74 km long Saharsa-Forbisganj Gauge Conversion Project, so far including Saharsa-Garhbaruari (16 km), Garhbaruari-Supaul (11 km), Supaul-Saraigarh (25 km) and Saraigarh-Raghopur (11 km) rail section. Till now a total of 82 km gauge conversion work has been completed and the remaining work of this project will be completed soon. After completion of this project, Saharsa to Darbhanga and Forbesganj will be connected by brand gauge rail link.
Jayanagar-Bardiwas Gauge Conversion Project - In the first phase of this project, the speed trial was successfully completed on 18th July, 2021 on 35 km long newly gauged railway section between Jaynagar in India and Kurtha in Nepal. After this, on 24.09.2021, inspection of this section from Jaynagar to Indian border has also been done by CRS. Trains will start operating on this railway section soon. This will make the movement of rail between the two countries easier. Along with this, business will get a boost and the surrounding area will develop.
Electrification: The electrification work of 80 km long Sitamarhi-Raxaul railway section was completed in the year 2021 and after CRS inspection, the permission of CRS has been received on 08.12.2021. It may be noted that the target of complete electrification of railway sections has been set by East Central Railway for the development of operational capacity. To achieve this goal, electrification of railway sections is being done rapidly. As a result of this, 90 percent of the total railway routes have been electrified by East Central Railway.
So far electrification of about 3720 Route Kilometers out of about 4220 Route Kilometers has been completed by East Central Railway. Out of 05 of East Central Railway, a total of 04 divisions including Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Sonpur, Danapur and Dhanbad have been 100% electrified, in which Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Division has the distinction of being the first 100% electrified railway division of Indian Railways. . East Central Railway will electrify 100% of the railway section next year.
After electrification, trains have been started on many sections of East Central Railway with electric locomotives / MEMUs, which has helped in environmental protection on the one hand, while on the other hand, due to increase in the speed of trains, travel time has been reduced, which has benefited the passengers.
