The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is making rapid strides towards fulfilling the promises made to the people in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra 2022 during the assembly elections in the state.
Making this claim here on Sunday evening, an official spokesman claimed that the government has made enough provisions in its 2022-23 Budget to fulfil 97 of the promises made in the Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra 2022, covering a wide gamut of areas, including widening the scope of welfare schemes for farmers, youth and women, infrastructural development, law and order and women’s safety, industrial growth etc.
He said the budget includes proposals worth Rs 54,883 crore for 44 new demands/schemes.
The official said that prominent among these budgetary provisions was the proposal of Rs 3301.74 crore for providing free LPG cylinders to the poor beneficiaries on the occasions of Holi and Diwali, which was one of the key points in the Sankalp Patra. He said the government had also proposed Rs 1,500 crore for distribution of free smartphones and tablets to students under the Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme, which was another highlight of the Sankalp Patra.
The Yogi government has proposed Rs 17,500 crore for buying wheat and rice from farmers at minimum support price (MSP) as well as Rs 100 crore for Bhamashah Price Stability Fund in order to guarantee minimum price of potato, onion and tomato to the farmers.
Furthermore, the government has proposed Rs 201 crore for completing the construction of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram Airport in Ayodhya.
As the government announced an increase in old age pension and pension for destitute women in its Sankalp Patra, the budgetary provision for the two have also been more than doubled from Rs 3,600 crore last year to 7,053.56 crore and from Rs 1,812 crore last year to Rs 4,032 crore, respectively.
The government has also more than doubled the provision under Mukhyamantri Community Wedding Scheme from Rs 250 crore last year to Rs 600 crore. Besides, the government has proposed Rs 30 crore under Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana against Rs 20 crore last year to help provide free coaching to a large number of aspirants for civil services and engineering. It has also proposed Rs 500 crore for increasing the number of seats in MBBS and post-graduate courses in medical institutions in the ratio of 60:40.
The Yogi government has also made budgetary provisions to set up autonomous medical colleges in Bijnor, Kushinagar, Sultanpur, Gonda, Lalitpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Chandauli, Bulandshahr, Pilibhit, Kanpur Dehat, Auraiya, Sonbhadra, Kaushambi and Amethi districts as part of the larger goal envisaged in the Sankalp Patra to establish medical colleges in all the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Moreover, the Yogi government has proposed Rs 115 crore for setting up of new sugar mills in Barabanki and Meerut districts as well as expansion and renovation of the old mills. The government has also proposed Rs 100 crore for Metro rail projects in Varanasi and Gorakhpur as well as Rs 80 crore for ropeway service in Varanasi.
Furthermore, the Yogi government has proposed Rs 263.75 crore for the One District One Product scheme, Rs 125 crore for Mukhyamantri Self-Employment Scheme, Rs 1,200 crore for Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana and Rs 1,000 crore to give pension to the differently-abled.
As part of its ongoing pursuit to build world-class infrastructure, the Yogi government has proposed Rs 511.93 crore for Gorakhpur Link Expressway Project and Rs 400 crore for Vipin Rawat Defence Industrial Corridor. The government has proposed Rs 2,000 crore for Amrit Yojana, which aims to provide safe drinking water in all the 734 civic bodies.
In terms of safety and security, the government has proposed Rs 1,703 crore for strengthening female police battalions in the state, Rs 250 crore for police equipment and Rs 523.34 crore under Safe City Scheme for Lucknow, Prayagraj, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Agra and Gorakhpur.
