Firing yet another salvo at the Samajwadi Party for corruption in its rule and for neglecting development, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday averred that SP had no development-oriented thinking.
Addressing a public meeting in his home turf in Gorakhpur on Sunday, Yogi Adityanath said, “I asked the SP chief to list development works done under his party. He replied infrastructure, medical facilities, roads were not their priority... He told me further, ‘Our agenda was to get the kabristan (cemetery) boundaries made’."
Continuing his series of attacks on the previous governments, the chief minister said that the Bharatiya Janata Party utilised funds in development works, for construction of degree and inter colleges, ITIs, polytechnics, rural stadiums, AIIMS, medical colleges, reopening of fertiliser factory and distribution of electricity, free foodgrains and free LPG cylinders to the needy, while, the previous governments possessed no intent to work for the welfare of the people and progress of UP.
Furthermore, Yogi remarked, “'Itar wale mitra' accumulated the money in their lockers, focused on 'sabka saath par sir Saifai ka vikas'... Had it been the SP government, Covid vaccines would have been sold in markets and no poor would have received it... BJP ensured no one was deprived of it.”
Yogi went on to say that the BJP’s double-engine government had worked following the principle of “Sabka Vikas, Sabko Suraksha aur Sabko Samman,” whereas the SP today was not happy with the improvement in the state. “They had no time to think for the state because their thinking was restricted to their tribe,” Yogi added.
Slamming the opposition over the issue of law and order, corruption and nepotism, Yogi Adityanath said, “Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress live for their families; they encouraged dynasties. If we talk about nationalism, they talk about casteism, we talk about development, they talk about religion and graveyards.”
Attacking the SP and BSP, Yogi Adityanath asked people if they were getting power supply and double-dose of ration at present. As they replied in the affirmative, he asked again if they used to get it during the previous governments and went on to answer, “The previous governments used to like darkness and destruction."
Stating that Ravi Kishan had remained dedicated to the people of Gorakhpur to solve their issues he was always been among them, Yogi asked the people whether they were willing to feature in Bollywood films. As they answered with enthusiasm, he said that the upcoming Noida Film City would make their dreams come true.
Yogi said that if the BJP government was formed, it would give free cooking gas cylinders to every beneficiary of the Ujjwala scheme on Holi and Diwali. “Also, women above the age of 60 years will be given free travel in the UP State Road Transport Corporation buses,” he said and announced that the amount of money given under Kanya Sumangala Yojana would be increased to Rs 25,000 while under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, Rs 1 lakh would be transferred to the beneficiary if BJP was voted to power.
Addressing a public meeting in Maharajganj later, the chief minister said that the voting pattern in the first five phases of the UP assembly elections in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party had left the entire opposition nonplussed.
He said that many of the opposition leaders were searching for exit routes.
“As the information goes, many of them have booked foreign-bound tickets out of desperation. Some are trying to go to Australia and England and some are preparing to flee to Nepal,” he remarked.
