Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced to provide zero-interest loan of Rs 5 lakh from the current Rs 3 lakh to the SHGs each. The new provision would take effect from April 2022.
Describing the decision as an important one, the CM said it would help hundreds of thousands SHG members to grow as big businessmen as they can establish themselves by building small and medium-scale industries.
Patnaik said that as women are the key players in the State's transformation, his Government has decided to provide Rs 50,000 crore as loans in next five years to the SHGs.
Notably, the State Government has organised 70 lakh women through 6 lakh SHGs.
