The Vigilance police on Thursday arrested Srimanta Kumar Sethy, Superintending Engineer, Salandi Canal Division, Bhadrak, and his brother-in-law over possession on the allegation of possession of unaccounted cash.
Sethy and his relative were intercepted with Rs 5 lakh cash, for which they couldn’t furnish a satisfactory explanation. The amount was recovered from their possession.
Following the interception, the anti-graft agency carried out simultaneous raids on Sethy’s properties including his Government quarters at Delta Colony, Bhubaneswar, residence at Bhadrak town and brother in-law’s house at Khantapada in Baleswar district. The searches were continuing.
In another instance, Vigilance officials on Thursday conducted multiple raids on the properties of Manoj Kumar Lenka, Assistant Manager (Civil), IDCO, Bhubaneswar, on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The raids were conducted at Lenka’s triple-storied residential building at Koradakanta in Bhubaneswar, a flat at 5th floor of Grand Asian Apartment in Puri, parental house in Kesapur, Pattamundai, a house at Niladri Nagar in Jharpada, Bhubaneswar, a market complex at Uttara, a triple-storied building at Beltala, Pattamundai and office chamber in IDCO office at Rupali Square, Bhubaneswar.
The raids were on and his assets were yet to be calculated.
