A police constable and his wife were killed and their driver was injured after an unidentified vehicle hit their car in Raipur district in Chhattisgarh, police said on Sunday.
The deceased were Vijay Rajput and Arati, Dhamtari Superintendent of Police Prashant Thakur said.
Rajput was posted in Keregaon police station in the district, he added.
The incident took place on Saturday night at Nimora when the couple and their 13-month-old twin toddlers were returning to Dhamtari from Bilaspur after attending a wedding, the officer said.
The car in which they were travelling crashed into a vehicle, killing Arati Rajput on the spot. The constable succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.
The toddlers miraculously survived with minor injuries. The condition of the car driver is said to be stable.
