The Chhattisgarh government on Tuesday appointed nodal officers for the security and maintenance of ‘Krishna Kunj’. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the scheme on the occasion of Janmashtami.
The scheme envisages to motivate people to plant trees and save trees mainly in urban areas. Extensive urbanization has led to indiscriminate felling of trees, an official statement said.
Planting trees like banyan, peepal, kadamb, mango, tamarind, plum, Ganga imli, jamun, mulberry, tendu, chironji, pomegranate, palas, guava, Sitaphal, bel and amla will be done. The target is to plant 2.20 crore saplings across the state.
Viraj Mudaliar and Vishwanath Mukherjee (Telibandha) have been appointed as nodal officers in Raipur urban body area, Santosh Samant Rai in Birgaon, Loknath Dhruv in Arang, Girish Rajak in Abhanpur Nagar Panchayat, Deepak Tiwari in Kharora and S.L. Banjare in Kurra.
The nodal officer will submit the status report of ‘Krishna Kunj’ every week, including a report in the form of a booklet, write-up of progress and photographs, to the senior officers.
