In the Paradip Port Trust Board Member (Trustee) election which ended on October 28, Shrikant Roy, general secretary of Paradip Bandar Majdoor Sangha affiliated to Bharatiya Bandar Majdoor Sangha (BMS), has been elected as the first trustee and Sunil Kant Das, member of Paradip Erasama Industrial Workers Union, has been elected as the second trustee.
A total of eight candidates from different labor unions contested the election. Out of a total of 392 employees, 382 voted. One vote was rejected. Out of 381 valid votes, Roy got the highest 107 votes while Das got the second highest with 76 votes.
Narsingh Prasad, general secretary of the Panchanan Kanungo-led Paradip Port Workers’ Union finished third with 55 votes.
