Maya holds SP responsible for BJP victory in UP

Friday, 29 April 2022 | PNS | Lucknow

Bahujan Samaj Party chief and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati, on Thursday hit back at Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav over his allegation that she was dreaming to become the president of the country with the support of Bharatiya Janata Party.

She even categorically stated that Akhilesh Yadav was responsible for the BJP's victory in the UP polls and now he could flee from the country after his party's 2022 debacle.

In a statement released here on Thursday, Mayawati held the Samajwadi Party responsible for the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Uttar Pradesh again.

Mayawati said, “I can dream of becoming the prime minister of the country but I am not dreaming of becoming the president."

She said that the Samajwadi Party should stop dreaming of making her the president and circulating false propaganda against her.

The BSP chief said the “very weak” performance of the Samajwadi Party was solely responsible for the return of the BJP to power in Uttar Pradesh with a thumping majority.

She said that the 2022 assembly election was given a Hindu-Muslim colour by the Samajwadi Party which led to their drubbing.

She also alleged that SP president Akhilesh Yadav was responsible for the poor condition of Muslims in the state.

Mayawati also made a very serious allegation against Akhilesh Yadav, saying that this time to prevent the Bahujan Samaj Party from coming to power in the state the Samajwadi Party fought the elections in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

"Both of them gave a completely Hindu-Muslim colour to the 2022 UP election.  Due to this move of the Samajwadi Party, the Bharatiya Janata Party has again come to power here. Now even the Samajwadi Party has come to know about its trick. The Bharatiya Janata Party got power only due to the weak performance of the Samajwadi Party," she said.

Meanwhile, Mayawati said that the monuments and parks of the Dalit icons built in the capital Lucknow and other districts of the state during the BSP regime were in a very bad shape. To draw the attention of the government towards this, BSP general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra and BSP Legislature Party leader Umashankar Singh met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday and handed over a letter written by Mayawati to him.

The BSP president in her letter also mentioned about the power crisis in the state.  She said that the shortage of electricity in the month of Ramzan was causing problems to Muslims as well as to the people living in rural areas, particularly farmers.
