The Krushak Sathis’ union of Jagatsinghpur district held a meeting, pressing for a five-point charter of demands.
The demands included enhancement of remuneration, issue of identification and insurance card, proper training on agriculture prospects, involvement of Krushaka Sathis in all agricultural activities and Government schemes, and job for the deceased Krushak Sathi’s kin.
Speaking on the occasion, Krushak Sathi volunteers fumed the neglect to the Krushak Sathis by the Government though they have been performing a crucial role for agricultural works since 2006 with a
meager remuneration of Rs 1,000 per month and that too, payment of salary in an irregular manner.
“The Government has enhanced remuneration and other facilities for Anganwadi workers, Asha workers, and Mission Shakti workers but sadly, we have been ignored for years,” rued Krushak Sathi leader Subodh Kumar Barik. Krushak Sathi representatives participated in the meeting and warned the Government of launching agitation against the apathy soon.
