Jharkhand to bear travel expenses of returning residents

Government of Jharkhand has decided to bear travel expenses of people of Jharkhand stuck in war ravaged Ukraine when they return home. Chief Minister Hemant Soren today posted a tweet sharing the decision of the government and stated that the State government will reimburse the travel expenses of people coming back from Ukraine on their own expenditure.

“The State government in coordination with the Centre is trying its best to provide all possible help to the people of the State,” he further said.

The Jharkhand government has already released helpline numbers of State Migrants Control Room for possible help to the people of Jharkhand stuck in Ukraine and nearby countries.

The State Migrants control room has also come out with a number of people affected due to the Ukraine crisis. According to the data provided by the control room as many as 86 people of Jharkhand have been so far found to be affected by the crisis. Among the 86 people, 23 belong to Ranchi district, while 11 each are from Sahebganj and Hazaribag districts. Ten people are from East Singhbhum.

Among the 86 affected persons 24 are females and 62 are males, the statistics revealed.

The international crisis has posed a threat on the life of hundreds of students and residents of Jharkhand who are stranded in Ukraine. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Godda MP Nishikant Dubey have tweeted Foreign minister Dr. Jaishankar to take steps for their safe return.

Raj Nandini from Latehar is pursuing medical study at the Vinnytsia National Pirogov Medical University in Ukraine. Only two months back she went back to Ukraine quite unaware that she would be in trouble due to the international crisis after Russia attacked Ukraine. Her father Manoj Gupta is a farmer by profession and he is worried about the safety of his daughter. He has requested Chatra BJP MP Sunil Kumar Singh to raise the matter with the foreign ministry fir for her safe return.

Similarly, in Jamshedpur, Sanjay Khemka, a resident of Baradwari is worried about his daughter Rashika Khemka who is pursuing her MBBS course at the Odessa National Medical University in Ukraine.

Dr. SB Bhattacharya, a physician at MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur is worried about his son Soham Bhattacharya who is a neurosurgeon at a hospital in Kharkiv town. Shrishti Garg, daughter of a former member of Tata workers association is pursuing MBBS in Kharkiv town.  She told her family members that she was supposed to catch her flight for India on February 27.   But after Russia attacked and captured the airport, they took shelter in a metro train.

Twenty two-year-old Roshan Soni, son of businessman Ramesh Soni, a resident of Garhwa town at court road, is pursuing his MBBS course at the Bebo Malent University   in Ukraine. He is in his third year. He is currently kept in the bunker of the college campus.  Another student, 23-year-old Prabhat Kumar Singh, son of Dr. M P Singh a native of Jainagra village under Kandi police station area of the district also stranded in Ibano City of the Ukraine. He is pursuing his final year of the MBBS course.

While talking over phone to his parents, he said that the situation here is very bad. A day before, three missile attacks took place three kilometers away from our flat. There has been an attack on the air base and on the supermarket. “I live, water, electricity is on. Also the network is working. But, I don't know when it will be disconnected. Food crisis has started .On Thursday, I bought food and drink for 10 days. We cannot do anything unless India's Foreign Ministry takes initiative from its side,” he said.
