The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has alleged that Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain, arrested in an alleged money laundering case, is being given VIP treatment inside the Tihar jail. In its affidavit to the court, the ED has alleged that Satyendar Jain is getting massages and is also regularly meeting the co-accused in the case.
Reacting on the development, Delhi BJP demanded strict action against Tihar jail officials. He said that this is not possible without the connivance of jail authorities. The ED said that Jain is getting all facilities including massage in Tihar jail. It accused Jain, who is also the prisons minister, of taking unfair advantage of his position. “As per the footage, the jail superintendent meets Jain every day, which is against the rules,” said ED, adding that homemade food is provided to him in jail, defying the court order.
The ED further alleged that Jain's wife Poonam Jain comes to meet him often in the cell, which is against the jail manual and he often meets with other accused, Ankush Jain and Vaibhav Jain, who are also locked up in Tihar Jail, it said. Denying all the claims made by the ED, the Tihar jail administration, said that no one from outside visited Jain's cell. “However, during the headcount in the morning, all the prisoners present in the ward can talk to each other. The co-accused that is being talked about is also in the same ward in which Mr Jain is, so they can talk among themselves, it said. “After the head count, when everyone goes to their own cell, they cannot go to each other's cell,” it said. On the charges of Jain using gadgets, the Tihar administration has also denied that Jain has access to any kind of electronic gadget.
Leader of Opposition, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said that Jain still remains a minister in the Delhi government and held the health as well as prison department before his arrest on May 30.
He has earlier contacts with the jail authorities which he is taking illegal advantage of.
While comparing Jain to Sukesh Chandrashekhar, accused in prison for a money laundering case, Bidhuri said that this is the same case as, who cheated crores of rupees and took advantage of the facilities in jail by paying bribes of crores. Jain is taking advantage of the facilities by using his influence.
Bidhuri alleged that this is surprising that he has not removed Jain from the cabinet even though more than five months have passed with him behind the bars. “Kejriwal is not deliberately removing him from the cabinet so that he continues to use his influence illegally while in jail,” LoP added.
East Delhi MP, Manoj Tiwari said that after all the eye-opening revelations Kejriwal is still not removing Jain from the post of the minister as he is handling his money.
Tiwari said that he is a hawala trader, who runs a fake company, and is behind the bars. But the CM not taking any action against him because Jain is the parrot in which Kejriwal lives.
Delhi BJP Adesh Gupta has demanded the immediate removal of Jain from the cabinet and said that he should be shifted to any other jail from where he could not influence the witnesses, without any delay. He also said that the party will stage a fierce protest if the demands are not fulfilled.
