Odisha Cadre IPS Dr Satyajit Naik, who was the Chief Investigation Officer (CIO) of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Pulwama blast case, played a major role for the conviction of six terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

The Additional Sessions Judge Patiala House Court, New Delhi, on November 28 convicted six terrorists and sentenced five of them to life imprisonment, while one to five years of imprisonment.

Dr Naik who worked as the SP of NIA and had investigated the Pulwama blast case as the CIO was immensely happy with the development. Presently, he is working as the DIG (computer) of State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB).

The 2019 Pulwama attack occurred on February 14, 2019, when a convoy of vehicles carrying Indian security personnel on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethapora in the Pulwama district of the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir. The attack killed 40 Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel as well as the perpetrator—Adil Ahmad Dar who was a local Kashmiri youth from the Pulwama district. The responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Pakistan-based Islamist terrorist group.

“I am happy that the accused were convicted in one of the important NIA cases. We did hard work which finally paid off with the conviction of the six terrorists,” informed Naik, while recounting his investigation in the Pulwama blast case.
