DPS Ranchi holds election of Student Council at Senior Wing

With an objective to give voice to the opinions, ideas and concerns of the student body in front of school faculty, to train students in leadership and to aid various departments of school in planning, communication and implementation of events, an election of the Student council for the Academic session 2022-23 was conducted in Delhi Public School, Ranchi on 11th May 2022. The results of the election were declared today.

The students of Class XII contested for the posts of Head Girl, Head Boy, Deputy Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy, Cultural Secretary, Deputy Cultural Secretary, Sports Captain, Deputy Sports Captain, School Ambassador and Class Prefects. In connection with this election, the school organised an election campaign programme wherein each candidate delivered their respective election campaign message to the participating voters. Their body language provided it with an aura of proper parliamentary elections. The campaign was followed by the casting of votes in the ballot boxes, thus proceeding with election in a democratic procedure.

As per the results of the election, Nashita Imam (252 votes), Ishita Bedi (198 votes) and Md Afanul Haque (361 votes) were appointed as Head Girl, Additional Head Girl and Head Boy (Secondary Wing) respectively. Souroja Roy (308 votes) and Praggya Amitabh (283 votes) were elected as Deputy Head Girls while Anurag Lakra (296 votes) and Arpit Aryan (254 votes) were appointed as Deputy Head Boys.

Furthermore, the school also made house appointments wherein Payal Sinha and Saumilya Sumeet (Chenab house), Samya Singh and Aashmann Kumar (Ganges House), Sania Prasad and Avneesh Choudhary (Jamuna House), Maanya Singh and Saket kashyap (Jhelum House), Ananya Mittal and Deep Arjit Prasad (Ravi House) and Paridhi Adhikari and Dibyanshu Gandhi (Sutlej House) were appointed as House Captains.

Highlighting the importance of student council, Dr Ram Singh, Principal, DPS Ranchi said, “The students of today are the leaders of tomorrow and we believe that every student has the potential to emerge as a leader. It will uplift their leadership quality, empowering them to scale greater heights of excellence and be winners holistically”.
