DMRC submits FY20-21 balance sheet and bank accounts details on HC’s directive

Thursday, 17 February 2022 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has filed a fresh affidavit comprising its balance sheet (FY 20-21) and details of all bank accounts and fixed deposits as directed by the Delhi High Court in its last hearing on 14 February.

The court had issued directions while hearing Reliance Infrastructure-promoted Delhi Airport Metro Express Pvt Ltd’s petition for execution of the 2017 arbitral award, which pertains to the Delhi Airport Metro Express Line. The award pertained to a concession agreement between the two entities, which was signed on August 25, 2008.

As per the filing, DMRC has Rs 5694 crores in its various bank accounts, as against DAMEPL’s claim of Rs 6330 crores. The matter is scheduled to be heard on Thursday in Delhi High Court.

An arbitral tribunal in its May 2017 award had ruled in favour of DAMEPL, which had pulled out from running the Airport Express metro line over safety issues, and accepted its claim that the running of operations on the line was not viable due to structural defects in the viaduct through which the train would run.
