In protest against the irregularities in recruitment examinations in Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC), appointments of favour in Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha and many other departments the Uttarakhand Congress held protests in various parts of the State on Tuesday. During the protest the agitated workers of the party burned effigies of the State government in all the district headquarters. In Dehradun, the Congress workers led by the officiating president of the Mahanagar Congress committee Jaswinder Singh Gogi held a demonstration. Speaking on the occasion, Gogi said that the BJP government has given jobs to people who are close to BJP leaders. He said that the scam in appointments in every department in the state has shocked the unemployed youth. Gogi said that the BJP had come to the power on the promise of providing two crore employment but its government has failed miserably on this front. Launching an attack on the BJP, Gogi said that the BJP government has not only sold the public sector companies and other institutions its leaders are selling government jobs for Rs 15 lakh each. Demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in all the recruitment scams, the Congress leaders said that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami should resign on moral grounds.
The student wing of the Congress party, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) held demonstrations in DAV- PG college, MKP College and SGRR college on the issue. The NSUI workers led by national convener Vikas Negi burned effigies of the government in these colleges. Negi said that shocking revelations are coming to fore in the investigation of STF in the examination paper leak case of UKSSSC. He said that Hakam Singh, a key player in the scam is a BJP leader and in such a condition, a fair inquiry is not possible. Negi said that to expose the real culprits and big fishes, a CBI probe should be ordered by the government. He threatened the NSUI workers would be forced to hit the roads if the government fails to heed to the demand of CBI inquiry in the recruitment scams.
