Milestones and signages in Haryana to be renovated with logo of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav
Chandigarh: To ensure the celebrations of 75 years of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav are stamped in the memory of the people of the State, Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Thursday directed the officers concerned to renovate all signages and milestones across the State with its logo reflecting the celebration of 75 years of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. During a review meeting of the 31 projects of four departments with an estimated cost of over Rs. 6,400 crore which was held under his Chairmanship here, he also suggested consulting the Horticulture Department so as to revamp the surrounding areas of the National Highways and major connecting roads with suitable flora so as to beautify them. He directed the officers concerned to fix a deadline for the completion of the ongoing projects and expedite the work so that they are finished within the stipulated time. Kaushal reviewed the progress of all the 31 projects, including 18 projects of PWD (B & R) and Architecture, four projects of Health & Family Welfare, six projects of Public Health Engineering and three projects of Home Department. Among the key projects are, construction of roads and bridges which will enhance the connectivity of the state, projects further augmenting the healthcare facilities, an array of projects pertaining to construction of over bridges which will help smoothen traffic congestion.
Training of fresh recruits of Himachal Police department to start from July 4
Shimla: The recruitment process of constables for Himachal Pradesh Police will be completed shortly, which will be followed by medical and verification, a spokesperson of the Police department said on Thursday. He informed that the training of fresh recruits would tentatively start from July 4 and the Recruit Training Course (RTC) will be run at 3 centres simultaneously, due to the large number of recruits. The General Entry recruits will be trained at Police Training College, Daroh, District Kangra. These include both the male and female recruits.The ex-servicemen recruits will be given training at 1st Indian Reserve Battalion, Bangarh, District Una. The recruits of the driver cadre will be imparted training at 4th Indian Reserve Battalion Jangalberi, District Hamirpur. All these training centres are well equipped to provide the most modern and contemporary training to the fresh recruits.
Shoolini Univ emerges among top 200 global universities in Times Higher Education Impact Rankings
Chandigarh: Shoolini University has emerged among the top 200 global universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2022. The rankings, were announced by Times Higher Education, considered the gold standard for international rankings of institutions of higher learning, on Wednesday night. It has also been ranked at number two in the world in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for affordable and clean energy from among 705 institutions and sixth among 674 institutions which competed in water usage and care category. This achievement of the 13-year-old university, which is founded by top academicians and professionals, is the culmination of its mission to be a Top 200 global University by 2022. “Ten years ago, it seemed to be an impossible task when we took on the goal of being a Top 200 University in the world,” said Prof. P.K. Khosla, founder and Chancellor of the university.
PGI's Manju Dhandapani is among the Top 10 Finalist for the inaugural Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award
Chandigarh: PGI’s nurse Manju Dhandapani is among the Top 10 Finalists for the inaugural Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award initiated by UAE based Aster DM Healthcare. The winner will be announced on May 12, celebrated as International Nurses Day in Dubai, and will win a cash prize of $250,000 which is around Rs 2 Crores. The city's nurse has added to the pride not only of Chandigarh but to the entire nation with the nomination, which underscores her outstanding and selfless contribution over the years. She is a faculty member at the National Institute of Nursing Education, Chandigarh and is the Secretary of the Society of Indian Neuroscience Nurses. She holds a Postgraduate degree from the Institute of Medical Education and Research-Chandigarh.
Heat wave in Haryana and Punjab; Gurugram hottest at 45.6 deg C
Chandigarh: Blistering heatwave conditions swept through Haryana and Punjab on Thursday, with Gurugram recording a high of 45.6 degrees Celsius. Gurugram was the hottest place in Haryana, while the common capital Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius. In Haryana, Hisar recorded a high of 44.5 degrees Celsius, Bhiwani 43.6 degrees Celsius, Narnaul 44.4 degrees Celsius, Rohtak 44 degrees Celsius, Ambala 42.8 degrees Celsius and Karnal 42.7 degrees Celsius, a meteorological department report showed. In Punjab, Patiala and Bathinda recorded highs of 43.6 degrees Celsius each, Ludhiana 43.2 degrees Celsius, and Amritsar and Jalandhar 43 degrees Celsius each, the report added.
