Haryana to celebrate Sardar Patel's birth anniversary today
Chandigarh: Haryana Government has decided to celebrate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary on Monday, October 31, 2022 as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ or National Unity Day in front of VIP entrance at ground floor of Haryana Civil Secretariat at 11 am. Spokesperson said that on this occasion, the Chief Minister will grace the occasion as a chief guest and pay tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal, other senior officers, and officials will also be present on this occasion. To mark the occasion, a pledge taking ceremony will also be administered to strengthen the security, unity and integrity of the nation.
Adviser lays foundation stone for 8-lane synthetic Athletic Track at Sec-7 sports complex
Chandigarh: To the delight of Chandigarh’s sports fraternity, a long awaited eight-lane synthetic Athletic Track (International Athletic Federation Approved) had been conceptualized for Chandigarh and foundation stone of the same was laid today by the Adviser to the UT Administrator Dharam Pal at Sector-7 Sports Complex. This is the first synthetic Athletic Track conforming to international standard and Athletes of Chandigarh and surrounding states will be benefitted with this facility as the entire National and International competitions are conducted on synthetic Athletic Track and the local athletes will be able to do requisite practice at the same surface.
Interactive session on Bharat Ratan Patel at PU
Chandigarh: Special interactive session was organized on the eve of National Unity Day by Panjab University’s Girls’ Hostel Number-6 and Boys Hostel Number – 5 to mark 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. During the interaction, resource person Dr Bharat highlighted the contribution, sacrifices made by Sardar Patel by drawing inferences from his life underlining the role played by him as an activist, lawyer, freedom fighter, and a statesman. The session was attended by around 50 students of both the hostels.
Two-day orientation workshop for councillors concluded
Chandigarh: The two-day orientation programme for Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, councilors concluded on Sunday with the topic of ‘Municipal Financial Management (Budget)’ by speaker Prashant Pisolkar from Rambhau Mhalgi Parbodhni, Mumbai. The concluding session was attended by Mayor Sarbjit Kaur, Deputy Mayor Anup Gupta, besides other senior officers of MCC, elected councillors as well as newly-nominated councilors. The orientation programme was organised in association with the Rambhu Mhalgi Parbodhini, Mumbai. Other important topics covered during the concluding session include ‘Emerging Issues in Urbanization’; Traffic; Disposal of Trash and Water Shortage Problem’ by key speaker Neelesh Kulkarni.
Five-km 'Fit India' walkathon in Bathinda
Bathinda: Five-kilometer ‘Fit India’ walkathon was organized by Canara Bank, Regional Office, Bathinda. A Bank official said that on the occasion of 76th Independence Day, Indian Government promoted fitness in accordance to ‘Fit India Freedom Run 3.0’. ‘Fit India’ walkathon was organized by Canara Bank’s Bathinda Regional Office under its Assistant General Manager Chandar Singh Tomar. All the staff members walked five kms with banners to promote ‘Fit India’ among the people.
Paras Hospital organizes walkathon on World Stroke Day
Panchkula: To spread awareness on stroke prevention, symptoms, and treatment, the team of Paras Hospitals organized a ‘Walkathon’ in Panchkula on Sunday, on the occasion of ‘World Stroke Day’. Over 500 people participated in the walkathon, which was flagged off by Panchkula Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Surinder Pal Singh, at around 6:30 am from Yavnika Gardens. Addressing the public, Dr Anurag Lamba, Associate Director Neurology, said: “To reduce the risk of stroke, people must control their blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol; quit smoking; maintain a healthy weight; eat a healthy diet low in sodium with five-plus servings of fruits and vegetables per day; and increase physical activity, aiming for at least 150 minutes per week”.
111 examined in two ortho camps
Mohali: As many as 78 patients were examined in a free ortho, gynecology, and general medicine free health check-up camp at Gurudwara Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib, Kharar, on Sunday. The camp was organized by Ivy Hospital, Mohali, in association with Prabandhak Committee Gurudwara Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Kharar. During the camp, a team of doctors consulted patients for their ortho and gynae related problems. In another ortho camp at ACE Physiotherapy Clinic, Zirakpur, 33 patients were examined for their knee and joints problems. During camp a team of Ivy led by Dr Bhanu Partap Singh Saluja consulted patients for their ortho related problems.
