Aishbagh Janata quarter residents oppose eviction process, demand ‘Ghar ke Badale Ghar'

Huge ruckus in the Janata quarter area was created on Tuesday after a team of the Municipal Corporation had reached to demolish the houses, people took to the streets demanding 'house for house' which forced the team to return without action.

The Janata quarter is in Aishbagh area. There are about 600 houses here, in which about three and a half thousand people live. Many of these houses are in dilapidated condition.

The municipal corporation team reached on Tuesday afternoon to raze them and spot the team when people started making a ruckus. They demanded they should be given houses instead of houses.

The protest was for about an hour and a half. After the protest, the corporation officers withdrew and they adjourned the proceedings.

People protested against breaking the quarter by writing a slogan.

It is written in front of the houses that give 'Ghar ke Badale Ghar'. It was written on almost all the houses. Congressmen also came out in the fray in protest against the action.

The municipal corporation had given people an ultimatum till August 30 to vacate the house. Due to this the corporation team reached after 12 noon. Along with this there were also JCB machines.

Two houses were also demolished in half during which people started protesting.

Residents claimed that they have been living here for 30 years. Corporation employees come and ask to vacate the house but where they would live and the corporation should give us a place to live elsewhere.
