A three-day journey of an Ahimsa Ratha to Jagatsinghpur district was concluded amid a colorful closing function held in the collector office parade ground here on Tuesday.
Government Chief Whip and local MLA Prashanta Muduli , MP Dr Rajashree Mallick, ADM Satchidananda Sahoo, Zilla Parishad President, Block Chairpersons, PRIs members, freedom fighters, Anganwadi workers, SHGs, school and college students, as well as cultural troupes took parts in the concluding ceremony.
The chariot at Srikrushna Academy was extended a rousing welcome by students, civilians, and Government officials, which later proceeded to the collector office parade ground in a huge procession.
Addressing the gathering speakers informed that with an aim to create awareness among people against violence CM Naveen Patnaik had inaugurated the chariot titled as Ahimsa Rath on the auspicious
occasion of the 76th Independence Day.
The main goal of the Ahmisa Rath is to spread the message of Mahatma Gandhi, create awareness among people about non-violence and provide information on the freedom struggle and contribution of freedom fighters, they added.
