The Sundargarh District and Sessions Judge on Thursday sentenced three persons to 10 years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh each for ganja smuggling.
In 2015, the Rajgangpur police in the district had seized 92 kg of the contraband from Laxmiposh Square and arrested three persons identified as Md Guddu, Danis Alam and Birbal Kumar Yadav.
Later, police had registered case and the three were sent to judicial custody. From then the three accused were lodged in the Sundargarh jail.
District and Session Judge Subhadarshi Patnaik examined 15 witnesses while hearing the case. Public Prosecutor Abdul Shamim Akhtar appeared on behalf of the prosecution.
