The BJP Jagatsinghpur district unit’s general secretary Arun Kumar Swain, vice-president Ajit Kumar Das and Sailendri Senapati have reacted against their expulsion from the party on April 23.
In a joint statement, the three expelled leaders alleged that it was unconstitutional to expel them from the party's primary membership and
urged the party's top leadership to reconsider the matter.
The leaders have alleged that they were not given any show- cause notice before being expelled from the party's primary membership, which is unconstitutional.
It is learned that the three BJP leaders were expelled on charges of anti-party activities. It is alleged that the erection of a statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Paradip on December 25, 2021, in which Bhubaneswar BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi had joined as chief guest cost dear for the three expelled BJP leaders who played a key role in the mega programme. It is noted that there was a dispute among BJP leaders concerning invitation of the chief guest.
However, there is widespread discussion that factionalism in the party
was weakening BJP organisation in Paradip.
