J&K Police recovers arms dropped by drones from Pakistan; 2 arrested

The Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have arrested two persons after recovering an arms consignment airdropped from across the International Border with Pakistan through a drone in the Baspur Bangla area of RS Pura.

This is the fourth incident of recovery of arms consignment airdropped using a drone in the region.

A case FIR no. 196/2022 U/S 13,16,18 ULAP has been registered in police station RS Pura.

The arms consignment consisted of Pistol -4, Magazine -8, P/rounds- 47, police spokesman said.

According to a police spokesman, a suspicious movement of a drone was observed in the general area of Baspur Bangla, RS Pura on the intervening night of October 27-28. With the help of technical surveillance mounted in the border area the police teams reportedly picked up a few suspects and subjected them to sustained questioning regarding their unauthorised movement in the border area during the same time when the drone movement was observed.

 According to a police spokesman, Chander Bose S/O of Vasdev, R/O Doda picked up the arms consignment at the behest of a person namely Shamsher Singh S/O Prem Singh R/O Camp Gole Gujral Jammu. According to police, both were in touch with an OGW namely Balvinder R/O Jammu(Now settled in Europe). Police spokesman said, "all the arrested persons and the OGW are working for a banned terrorist organisation. Balvinder was coordinating with both the accused in India and the handlers of the consignment in Pakistan".
