Three persons were killed when a portion of a well being dug collapsed and buried six people in Chhattisgarh's Surajpur district, police said on Sunday.
Surajpur Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kukreja said the incident took place on Saturday evening in Dharsedi village when the six were digging the well.
The bodies of Nansai Pando (62), Sajan Gond (35) and Gajendra (30) were retrieved on Sunday, the official said.
The incident took place when a mound of mud caved in and all the six got trapped under the debris. The well was around 30 feet deep and 20 feet in diameter.
Locals pulled out three of the six while police retrieve the three bodies.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed grief over the incident and announced Rs 5.25 lakh ex-gratia amount to families of the three victims.
