In an attempt to woo sugarcane farmers ahead of assembly elections Uttarakhand government has effected an increase of Rs 29.50 in purchase price of sugarcane. Addressing media persons here on Monday, Cabinet Minister Yatishwaranand said government would purchase early variety of sugarcane at Rs 355 per quintal while Common variety would be purchased at Rs 345 per quintal. He said that early variety consists of almost 96 per cent of total produce of Sugarcane in state.
