Maintaining the positive recovery trend, the active COVID-19 caseload has come down to 159 in Uttar Pradesh. The active cases have dropped by over 99 per cent as eight fresh novel coronavirus positive cases were reported across the state in the last 24 hours.

In another significant development, the active COVID-19 cases have declined to zero in as many as 33 districts while 20 districts are left with a single active case each. As many as 23 COVID-19 patients have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of patients who have recovered across the state so far to over 16.86 lakh.

With an emphasis on strict screening, proper treatment, and aggressive vaccination, districts like Aligarh, Amethi, Amroha, Auraiya, Baghpat, Ballia, Balrampur, Barabanki, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hapur, Hardoi, Hathras, Kanpur Dehat, Kasganj, Jalaun, Lakhimpur-Kheri, Mahoba, Mainpuri , Mirzapur, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Rampur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shamli, Shravasti, Siddharthnagar, Sitapur and Unnao reported zero COVID-19 cases. In another big relief, none of the 75 districts have reported fresh cases of coronavirus infection in double-digits lately.

Indicating consistent decline in the coronavirus infection, the state reported eight fresh positive cases on Wednesday, testifying the success of the multi-pronged approach adopted to prevent the spread of the viral infection. The fresh cases have declined by more than 38,000 from its peak of 38,055 on April 24. The state has also been able to restrict daily Covid case count below 50 for nearly 50 days in a row.

In the last 24 hours, more than two lakh Covid tests were conducted across the state.

In addition to this, the state achieved the landmark of administering the first dose of Covid vaccine to over 57 per cent of the eligible adult population. Over 2.02 crore people have been fully vaccinated in the state.
