Disguising as a Sadhu (monk) and visiting the girlfriend’s place in the Jajpur Road area cost an 18-year-old college student dear on Saturday. Locals at Ferrochrome Gate Colony under the Jajpur Road police limits caught hold of him after suspecting his movement and informed police presuming him to be a child lifter.
A local said he initially spotted the youth dressed as a Sadhu. “When I saw his face, I found him to be quite young. My suspicion grew over his unusual long beard. I slightly pulled the beard, which came out easily. His large knot of hair was also found fake,” the local added.
Being informed, police reached the spot and detained the youth. A police official said the youth is a Plus II student and a resident of Angul. As family members of the youth’s lover were not accepting their relationship, the youth was visiting her house while dressing up as a Sadhu.
The youth was detained and an investigation into the matter was underway.
