Even though the Covid-19 positive cases remained below 10,000 on Sunday, as many as 33 more patients succumbed to disease in State, with which total death toll increased to 2,719. Five causalities were reported from Angul district, three each from Boudh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Sundargarh, two each from Khordha, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Deogarh and Cuttack and one each from Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada districts, Health and Family Welfare Department said. Meanwhile, 9,541 new positive cases were detected across 30 districts and State pool on the day, surging total tally to to 7,56,684. The day’s new cases amounted to a higher count compared to last few days with official sources attributing it to a more number of testing. Out of new cases, 5,343 were reported from quarantine and 4,198 were local contact cases.
Khordha district registered day’s maximum 1,342 cases followed by Cuttack with 716, Mayurbhanj 695, Sundargarh 595, Angul 552, Jajpur 489, Bhadrak 464, Kalahandi 315, Baleswar 302, Jagatsinghpur 299, Bargarh 284, Nabarangpur 254, Subarnapur 245, Nayagarh 230, Sambalpur 229, Koraput 215, Boudh 177, Keonjhar 177, Rayagada 164, Ganjam 150, Jharsuguda 140, Malkangiri 123, Dhenkanal 117, Kendrapada 114, Kandhamal 107, Balangir 101, Gajapati 69, Deogarh 61 and Nuapada 50.
