State’s daily Coronavirus count drops to 2,640

The State reported 2,640 Covid-19 positive cases in last 24 hours, a record low in over last two months, as officially stated on Tuesday.

The total tally stood at 9,06,429.In the last 24 hours, 63,695 samples had been tested and the test positivity ratio was 4.1 per cent.  Out of the new cases, 1,517 were from quarantine centres and 1,123 were local contacts.Baleswar district reported the day’s maximum 397 cases followed by 365 in Khordha, 266 in Cuttack, Puri 178, Jajpur 162, Mayurbhanj 155, Jagatsinghpur 132 and Bhadrak 128.

The districts reporting below 100 cases were Nayagarh 92, Angul 89, Keonjhar 70, Dhenkanal and Malkangiri 67 each, Malkangiri 64, Koraput 61, Kendrapada 55, Rayagada 49, Sundargarh 28, Subarnapur 25, Sambalpur 23, Bargarh 21, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur 20 each, Boudh 19, Gajapati 18, Ganjam 17, Kandhamal 15, Balangir 11, Jharsuguda and Nuapada eight each and Deogarh four. Besides, 73 cases were reported from State pool.However, even as the number of positive cases dropped, there has been no substantial decrease in the daily casualties with the State registering 40 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total death toll surged to 3,970.

Khordha district recorded the maximum seven deaths followed by Bargarh, Cuttack, Nayagarh with five each, Puri four, Ganjam and Angul three each, Kalahandi two and Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Sambalpur one each. So far, 87,0787 patients have recovered in the State
