Week-long child-friendly competitions and celebrations were conducted among slum children of Puri and Konark at Puri jointly by voluntary organisation Spandan and Bengalure-based tourism organisation EQUATIONS.
As the children are among the important stakeholders of tourism sector, they need to be made aware of their rights and privileges. Based on this theme, different events like race, high jump, long jump, quiz, art, etc., were conducted for children in various groups.
The programme was inaugurated by District Child Welfare Officer Manoj Tripathy and local sea beach police station officer Bidyadhar Bhol.
The closing ceremony was organised on November 20 where the champions were presented with awards and certificates. The event was coordinated by Spandan chairperson Barsharani Mishra.
Among others, District Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Mahavir Rudranarayan Sahoo was present.
