The people of Ganjam have reasons to cheer as the much-awaited railway wagon factory project which has been delayed, now seems to be back on track, thanks to the Railway Minister’s intervention.
The Odisha Development Forum (ODF) led by its president Ram Prasad Tripathy congratulated Railway Minister Aswini Vaishnaw for reviving the project at Sithalapalli village near Brahmapur.
Notably, the forum reminded the Minister that it had submitted a memorandum to him during his recent visit to Odisha and submitted several memos to the GM, East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar, earlier, requesting for revival of Sithalapalli wagon factory. The forum in a letter to the Railway Minister drew his attention to the pathetic railway infrastructure and poor passenger amenities in south Odisha in general and Brahmapur railway station in particular and hoped that the Minister will immediately intervene and address the concerns of the people.
Among other things, the forum in its memorandum had demanded for early restoration of the movement of all the daily passenger trains, improvement of infrastructure of Brahmapur railway station, establishment of coach terminal at Brahmapur, establishment of a railway division at Brahmapur, introduction of direct trains from silk city to other metro cities and more budget allocation for new railway lines.
