The district Superintendent of Police has suspended two police officers including an SI and an ASI and four Gramarakhis on various reasons.
The four Gramarakhis who were deployed under the Nampo outpost allegedly resorted to extortion by threatening residents and the ASI of the outpost Umakanta Mohapatra was involved in the racket. After the allegations were received by the DIG (ER) and Superintendent of Police, the latter had asked the Sub Divisional Police Officer, Jaleswar Ankita Kumbhar to conduct an inquiry and submit report .
After receiving report, SP SS Mishra took the action against the errant personnel. The Gramarakhis who were suspended are Karunakar Jena, Purna Chandra Dhal, Ratikanta Dalei and Ramesh Chandra Raul.
Similarly, Sub Inspector posted in the Jaleswar Court Tapasawni Mohapatra has been placed under suspension due to her long absence from workplace without genuine reason, report said.
