Singers of the steel city paid tribute to the melody queen Lata Mangeshkar on her 92nd birthday through a virtual music concert on Tuesday. A number of timeless classics of the legendary singer were performed with dexterity and aplomb by the talented artists of the city.
The concert, ‘Meri Awaaz Hi Pechaan Hai’, studded with mellifluous songs was streamed live on social media, with thousands of fans of the nightingale of Indian Cinema joining the event from different countries.
It is noteworthy that it was the 4th edition of the concert organised by Lata Fans’ Club, a group of music followers of Lata. The show commenced with a captivating saxophone performance of Ye Samma by Baljit Singh. It was followed by the mellifluous rendition of classical song ‘Megha Chai Adhi Raat’ from the film ‘Sharmilee’ by Basavadutta. Thereafter, songs like Aaj Kal Paao Zameen Par, Hushn Pahadon Ka, Rajani Gandha, Aakey Teri Baahon me, Jane Kya Baat Hai, Kabhie Kabhie, Ashaon Ke Saawan Mein, Dil To Pagal Hai, Pardesh Jake Pardeshiya and many other of her soothing melodies took the web audience down the memory lane to some of best years of Indian music. Basavdutta, Archana, Eeti, Mani, Satya, Santosh, Tapan and Sukhpal were the singers who kept audience captivated throughout evening. The show was compeered by Disha Goel.
