In the wake of the Jawad cyclone, the Indian Railway has cancelled several trains on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, which will impact the train service in Jharkhand also. The cyclone has hit Odisha and Andhra Pradesh primarily
According to the notification issued by the East Central railway, the following seven trains under its jurisdiction have been cancelled.
These trains are 12802 (New Delhi Purushottam Express) which passes through Koderma, Bokaro. Tatanagar and Ghastila in Jharkhand. Train number 22644 Patna Ernakulam Express that crosses through Jasidih and Madhupur of Jharkhand will remain suspended on Friday. This train originates from Bihar and passes through Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and terminates at Ernakulam in Kerala.
Train number 13351 Dhanbad- Alappuzah originating from Dhanbad, 12801 (Purushottam New Delhi Express) will remain suspended on Friday.
Another train namely 12876 (Neelanchal Express) passing through Koderma, Bokaro, Tatanagar will remain suspended on Friday. On Saturday train number 12815 (Nandan Kanan Express) and train number 20817 (Rajdhani Express) will remain suspended.
A railway official said that across the different divisions of the railway a total of 22 trains have been suspended as a precautionary measure. These trains either originate or terminate or pass through the coastal states hit by cyclone Jawad. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for four and orange alerts for seven districts of Odisha. The wind speed in the coastal area is likely to be around 60-80 kmph and it may further increase when it comes close to landfall. IMD has said that parts of Jharkhand will witness a moderate impact of the cyclone from December 3 to 6. Districts of Kolhan division besides Khunti and Ranchi are expected to receive light rainfall.
