Police solve kidnapping case in 14 hrs in Palamu

Cops in Palamu have solved a kidnapping case which had all the ingredients of a thriller web series, police said on Monday.

The perpetrator, who happens to be a policeman’s son, was held and sent to jail on Monday, sources said.

Taking cue from movies and web series, the kidnappers reportedly showed their victim on the video call to the family with a gun held at his head and demanded Rs. 35 lakhs as ransom. The victim was safely freed later in the day.

Palamu Superintendent of Police Chandan Kumar Sinha today gave a detailed account of this kidnapping, which hogged the attention of one and all.

Sinha said the victim Dilkash Roshan is the son of a government school head master H Ansari of Rehla. He was kidnapped in Daltonganj today and 35 lakh was demanded for his release.

Sinha said the kidnappers made video calls and acted like criminals of any Hindi crime films.

Ashutosh Pandey, the kidnapper who was nabbed by the cops, turned out to be the son of a havildar posted in Pakur district.

Police have recovered the bike used in the crime. Sinha said the police acted cool and fast.

One cop who played a role in busting this kidnapping just fell on the ground and hurt himself leading to his hospitalization here. The case was resolved in 14 hours, said the SP.
