A mature pair of Peepal and date palm which were earlier slated to be axed down for road widening has been transplanted in a location about four kilometres away from their original location in Bazpur. This case was different from other transplantation cases as the date palm had grown about 10 feet from the middle of the Peepal trunk. The linked trees were transplantedin the campus of government inter college Kelakheda.
This replantation was successful with the help of replantation specialist Ajay Nagar from Delhi and local environmentalist Amit Saini. Local environment organisation Green Bazpur Clean Bazpur member Amit Saini said that seven months earlier a Shiv temple at the crossroads was relocated and then this pair of trees at the same place was slated to be cut down to widen the road but the administration and forest department were requested to transplant the trees instead.
Within three months Nagar and his team first uprooted the big tree kept it alive. After three months when the new leaves sprouted, then with the help of two big cranes it was transplanted to the sports ground of the government inter college Kelakheda. Nagar said that the tree has been successfully transplanted in the campus and under one month new leaves will come again and this will set a precedent in the state.
