Bibekananda Pattnaik, one of the renowned environmentalists of Mayurbhanj district, has been recently appointed as the honorary wildlife warden by the Government of Odisha. His appointment has been made under section 4 of the Wildlife (protection) Act of 1972. He will continue to function as wildlife warden for next 2 years. This new appointment is viewed here as a recognition and appreciation of Pattnaik's commendable work in field of wildlife conservation. Pattnaik, in an appropriate response to this appointment and assignment, has now renewed his resolve to work and contribute, with a greater degree of zeal and vigor, towards protection and promotion of wildlife, in general, and preservation and conservation of flora and fauna of Similipal Biosphere, in particular.
