A seven-member team of the Passengers’ Amenities Committee (PAC) of East Coast Railway visited the Brahmapur railway station here on Tuesday to oversee the various development works and assessed the various amenities to be provided at the station to the passengers.
Among other things, the team will consider various amenities and development works that are being demanded by local social organisations like the Sanskarbadi, MASM, Odisha Development Forum, source said. Mention may be made that, socio-cultural forum “Sanskarbadi” led by its founding president Trinath Maharana and other senior members, had submitted a 8-point charter of demands to the General Manager of East Coast Railways (Khurda) through the senior Station Manager Durga Prasad Brahma recently on improvement of passenger amenities which among other things include running all the previous low fare passenger trains on regular basis in the Brahmapur route, introducing a direct train from the silk city to Puri, stopping collection ofsuperfast charges from passengers of the Bhubaneswar-Intercity Express train, continuing concession to senior citizens, reintroducing concessional monthly and quarterly seasonal tickets to students, employees, business men and other public who travel regularly.
