Mismanagement will come to fore during the procurement of paddy at minimum support price across Chhattisgarh from December 1, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said on Monday.
The BJP said it had been warning for months about a shortage of gunny bags as 1.05 lakh tonnes of paddy target had been kept for the current year, state President Vishnudeo Sai told the media.
Instead of ensuring an adequate number of gunny bags, the state government was trying to blame the Centre and writing to the Prime Minister seeking his intervention, Sai said.
Citing Monday’s incident in Piperchedi in Balod district, when tokens were given away, Sai said three women were injured seriously.
In several primary societies across the state, the names of registered farmers are missing from the list. No revenue official is ready to provide a solution to farmers, stating that their module has been blocked, Sai added.
