Over 10.14 lakh people of different ages have been vaccinated in Dhanbad since vaccination started on January 16 this year.
However, more than 18 lakh still to be vaccinated here including the children between 0 to 17 of age keeping in view the population of the district that stands at around 29 lakhs according to Aadhar card enrolments till December 2020.
District vaccination officer Dr Vikash Rana while giving details said that vaccination had commenced with administering corona vaccine to health worker Dharanji Handi of Topchanchi block and till now 31,352 health workers have been administered vaccine including 13570 getting both doses of vaccine till September 5.
Similarly , out of the 36616 vaccinated 15959 frontline workers have taken both doses.
Rana said, elderly persons of 60+ age too have come out in large numbers for vaccination and given date 117857 persons of this group took the vaccine including 63526 completing both doses.
Those in the age group of 18-44 have the highest count with 469776 vaccinated including 57156 taking both the doses.
A total of 295813 between the ages of 45 to 59 have been vaccinated here.
However , still a large population remains unvaccinated here in the district. Dr Rana said , the drive is on and would remain continued till the entire population is covered.
