A Mumbai police team arrested an alleged absconder, Mustaqe Khan [25], from Mohiuddinpur village here on Sunday in a pending rape case.
Khan had been living in Mumbai, where the rape case had been registered against him at the Oswari police station. After committing the crime he left for his native village. Earlier a Mumbai police team had come to Jagatsinghpur a few months ago but could not trace him.
Taking tipoff from the Jagatsinghpur police, on Sunday Mumbai cops reached here and raided Khan's house and arrested him.
He was presented in a local court and Mumbai police sought his transit remand. He refuted the allegations claiming that a false case has been registered against him based on a complaint of a dishonest woman, who intended to marry him but he declined.
However, the court allowed Khan’s transit remand.
