The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha on Tuesday announced that the annual Class-X (Matriculation) examinations would be held in offline mode in July for those students who are not satisfied with the marks awarded to them through the alternative assessment system.
The exams had earlier been cancelled for this year due to the Covid-19 situation while an alternative assessment method was adopted by the BSE for marking. As per the decision, the form fill-up for the offline exams would start from July 5 and continue till July 15. The exams would be conducted in the very month and the results would be published within ten days to ensure hassle-free admission of the students into +2 courses, said BSE President Ramashis Hazra. The marks scored by a student in the offline exams would be considered as his/her final marks while the alternative assessment method’s score would not be taken into account in the case of the students opting for offline exams, he said, adding that they can also apply for rechecking/ re-addition of marks after the offline exams.
Hazra refuted allegations levelled by many students and their parents regarding irregularities in marking through the alternative assessment method. He clarified that the method was devised after consultations with educationists and academicians. Performances of the students during the last four years were taken into account for awarding the marks, he said.
