Lynching a stray dog cost a man dear as he was arrested after a video on the incident went viral in social media on Saturday. One Babula Singh of Praharajpur under Ward-13 of the Pattamundai Municipality killed the dog lying near his house out of suspicion that it would kill his poultry and bite his domestic animals.
After the video related to Singh’s lynching of the stray canine went viral, wildlife activist Md Firdosh of Pattmundai lodged an FIR in this regard.
When the matter came to the notice of Kendrapada SP Madkar Sandip Sampat, he directed the Pattamundai PS IIC to take legal action against Singh. Singh was arrested under Sections 428, 429, 506 of IPC and Section 11 (1) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, 1968. He was produced in a local court and later released on bail.
