To observe the birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar, an online lecture was organised here on Sunday.
The online lecture was organised by the Marathi Sahitya Akademi, Madhya Pradesh Sanskriti Parishad on YouTube and Facebook Live.
The keynote speaker was the famous social thinker and the President of the World Dialogue Center Prashant Pol.
At the beginning of the programmeState Minister of Tourism, Culture and Spirituality Usha Thakur, while expressing her views, said that Ahilyabai has given lifelong inspiration. Her personality and work are written in Indian history with proud.
Speaker Prashant Pol told that, the memorable Ahilyabai Holkar was a sattvik rajmata. He was born on 1725 in Maharashtra to Mankoji Shinde.
He said that Ahilyabai was the daughter-in-law of the Maratha Subedar Malharrao Holkar of the Malwa region of Peshwa. He was married to Khanderao at the age of 8.
After the death of father-in-law and son, Ahilyabai was coronated on AD 1767 and made Maheshwar as her capital. Ahilyabai was an idol of a devout Shiv bhakta scholar, patience and peace. During his 30-year rule, he enriched the treasury. Ahilyabai kept a close watch on the activities of the Nizams. Ahilyabai was the patron of Hindu temples in India.
She was a skilled and sensitive administrator, built dharamshala, ghats, temples, wells, stepwells, Annachhatras by the queen across the country. Layed a network of roads, built forts, built a road from Banaras to Calcutta. When needed, fought the enemies like a brave warrior.
Ahilyabai was also a skilled politician. She realized that Gilchow and Agrejo's love is as devious and clever as a bear. In this regard, he had also written a letter to the Peshwa. Due to the scientific attitude, he invited the scholars and introduced the importance of Sanatan culture and scriptures. Ahilyadevi received the title of 'Punyashlok and Lokmata' due to her prajaavatsal gesture and for her wonderful work of public welfare.
