East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Vidya Bhushan inaugurated a Kalinga Rail Heritage Museum here on Saturday.
The Indian Railways in general and the ECoR in particular have a rich and illustrious history. There are lots of untold stories. The aim of establishing a rail museum in Bhubaneswar is to preserve the old equipments, to showcase the rich history of railways in this region, to enlighten the public about the organisation and its achievements and to boost tourism, said Bhusan.
In another development, Railway Board Member (Operations and Business Development) Sanjay Kumar Mohanty reviewed the performance of the ECoR with respect to operations and business development.
Mohanty stressed upon joint cooperation and mutual understanding between various agencies of the Central and State Governments with industries, ports and corporate agencies to improve freight traffic.
He also stressed on increasing line capacity and speeding up of doubling and tripling projects.
