He urged the State Government to take steps to bring him back to his native place. The 24-year-old Umakanta Swain, a resident of Bajarpur under Petchella GP of Mahakalapada block, was lured on the plea of lucrative pay package by a Bhubaneswar-based placement agency to go to Dubai. Swain landed at Dubai with a Rajnagar-based youth on November 6, after providing a sum of Rs 75,000 to the placement agency by borrowing money from local money lenders.
Later, Swain was asked by the Dubai –based company to work under a contractor. But the contractor started torturing him after three days. His ration was stopped forcing him to go without food for days together.
“I want to return to my native village, but the placement agency is yet to provide the passport. Despite trying to contact the agency several times to arrange my passport, it has yielded little result," lamented Swain.
“I urge the State Government and district Collector of Kendrapada to do the needful to bring me back," he said.Meanwhile, the family members and also the fellow villagers also urged the CM to take step to bring the youth in distress from Dubai.
