The ITR, Chandipur, organised a walkathon at Baleswar on Sunday with a tag “No to single-use plastics (SUP).”
The event was aimed at generating awareness among the denizens on the detrimental effects of SUP and avoiding the use of any products made of such material.
A large number of ITR employees participating in it began a march from the ITR Colony near Kendriya Vidyalaya, with banners and placards, urging the residents to phase out the use of SUP products.
The members of IEEE Communication and Computer Societies Joint Chapter, Baleswar, also took part during the event. The participants marched up to FM Golai and culminated at Range Officers Mess and Institute (ROMI).
The walkathon was organised by ITR as a part of celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence. It is worth mentioning that the ITR community has always been very active when it comes to matters of societal and environmental concern. It regularly undertakes activities such as cleanliness drives and plantation programmes, etc to promote a clean and green environment.
